LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Intense Holiday, the 12th place horse in this year's Kentucky Derby has been put down.
The horse went into surgery late last month for an injury to his right front leg. While recovering, Intense Holiday developed laminitis in both forelimbs. Doctors say their treatment options were limited and the horse was put down Thursday. The horse's owners had already retired him from racing and had planned to have him stand at stud once he recovered.
